Raku VI
Raku VI
by Frans Rood
For the past two decades Frans has been involved in ceramics. His interest in the craft led him in many directions, finally settling himself i the somewhat unpredictable world of Raku. His passion for the strong earth colours and metallics coupled with textures, he lets the forms speak for themselves. He is ever on the search for forms that allow him to express these passions, ones that best suit his personality and commitment to the craft.
A quick study in the methods, he began by learning techniques from prominent potters in the region. He acquired several certificates in Ceramic programs at Sheridan College. This provided the continuing education needed to allow him to hone his skills.
His works are displayed in private collections in, Greece, England, Japan, Germany, USA and Canada. Residing in Mississauga, Ontario, Frans teaches pottery at the Credit Valley Artisans in Georgetown, Ontario and is a member of the Hamilton Potters Guild.
